Our vision

The vision behind LivaWheel is to make everyday life easier for those with reduced mobility in the lower part of the body.

We believe that everyone should be able to sit at the dining table with dignity – without help or unwanted attention – and, just as importantly, be able to leave the table again, whether at home or away.

For those living with partial paralysis, multiple sclerosis, a stiff knee, hip problems, or pelvic instability, LivaWheel offers a solution that increases independence and improves quality of life.

Sitting too far from the table can make it difficult to reach your food, cause spills, or even result in skipping meals altogether. And sitting in a twisted position every day just to reach the table can lead to a misaligned back.

Our chair leg wheels are designed with a focus on safety, functionality, and aesthetics – ensuring that everyone can enjoy a meal at the table with dignity.

Why invent LivaWheel?

My name is Lisbeth Jacobsen, and I am the creator of the LivaWheel mobility aid.

During my pregnancy, I developed pelvic instability and discovered just how painful and frustrating it can be to do something as simple as sitting down at the table.

I soon realized I was not alone. Many people – especially older adults – struggle to pull themselves and their chair up to the table. This can be due to issues with the hips, legs, pelvis, or back.

That’s when I came up with the idea for a chair leg skate that can be attached to a dining chair for those experiencing temporary or long-term reduced mobility. I sought feedback from care assessors, care staff, and people living with mobility challenges to understand exactly what such a skate would need to do.

LivaWheel was then developed in collaboration with DTU, function-tested by the Danish Technological Institute, and user-tested with a number of older adults with conditions such as a stiff knee, clubfoot, multiple sclerosis, and partial paralysis.

Test participants, their relatives, and care staff have all responded very positively to LivaWheel – which makes everyday life easier for everyone involved.

My vision is to make life easier for anyone with reduced mobility in the lower body. My goal is to help you be more independent, deciding for yourself when you want to sit down at the table – and when you want to get up again – both at home and away from home.

Durable and Sustainable Material Choice

At LivaWheel, our primary goal is to improve the everyday lives of our users. That’s why LivaWheel is made from the best possible materials to ensure both safety and functionality.

The LivaWheel product has a long lifespan and is made from recyclable materials: PP plastic and stainless steel.

PP (Polypropylene) is a hard, opaque type of plastic used across industries and consumer products. It contains no BPA, PVC, or phthalates.

PP is 100% recyclable, and when incinerated, it only produces carbon dioxide and water.

Steel is a natural resource with an almost infinite lifecycle. It is easy to separate from other materials and waste using magnets, and it is 100% recyclable without any loss of quality. For this reason, steel can be considered a truly sustainable material.

LivaWheel has also been tested and approved under Danish conditions, with a durability assessment of at least 16 years – contributing positively to sustainability and making it a solid, long-term investment.
